Final: Wu Tang Vodka

From the slums of Shaolin, The Wu Tang strikes again. Not with another classic Hip Hop album, but with their own Brand of Vodka. A premium blend inspired by a traditional Japanese recipe. “The foundation of any marketing plan is the firms mission statement. A statement of the firms business based on a careful analysis of benefits sought by potential customers and an analysis of existing and anticipated environmental conditions.”(Lamb,MKtg,p18) Emerging in 1993, the Wu-Tang Clan proved to be the most revolutionary rap group of the mid-'90s. The Wu Tang came with a sound all there own, breaking barriers of what hip hop should sound like and how it shouldn’t sound. Respected by many music lovers, people who wouldn’t normally listen to hip hop getting turned on to the culture of true hip hop because of the impact the Wu Tang Clan brought to the entire world and a glimpse into there world. Eventually taking a stab in fashion world with their own clothing line called “Wu Wear”, sales were out standing. Consisting of nine members, each artist eventually went on to have successful solo careers. So with the iconic status and cultural following it’s only right to create a Vodka for one of the most influential groups in music history by naming a premium vodka after them. For any vodka lover, Wu Tang Vodka will change your opinion on what’s genuine premium vodka, at a price that's right. The bottle itself has the infamous well-known Wu Tang logo in black on the front, a logo just as familiar as the Pepsi logo, in any Hip Hop heads opinion. ”A brand is a name, term, symbol, design, or combination thereof that identifies a sellers products and differentiates them from competitors’’ products. A brand name is that part of a brand that can be spoken, including letters, words, and numbers. The elements of a brand that cannot be spoken are called the brand mark.” (MKTG, Lamb,p.134) Some bottles will be plastic so they can be recycled so they could be used again. “The pyramid of corporate social responsibility portrays economic performance as the foundation for the other three responsibilities. At the same time that it pursues profits (economic responsibility). However, a business is expected to obey the law (legal responsibility); to do what is right, just, fair (ethical responsibilities); and to be a good corporate citizen (philanthropic responsibility).”(Lamb,MGTK, p.29) Are marketing concept is a simple mass appeal to the hip-hop generation. "It states that the social and economic justifications for an organizations existence is the satisfaction of customer wants and needs while meeting organizational objectives"(Lamb, MKTG p.5)

To all the Vodka lovers, who are not familiar with their work or never even heard of them, the Wu Tang represent peace, unity, and their lyrics with many verses written in a stream of consciousness style. Social responsibility and ethics go hand in hand. Ethics refers to the moral principles or values that generally govern the conduct of an individual or a group. Ethics can be viewed as the standard of behavior by which conduct is judged.”(Lamb,MGTK,p.30) The group also shows mature depth as well, speaking on the pitfalls of life's vices, songs like “A Better Tomorrow”, lyrics telling their fans not to drink your life away, party your life away, cause your seeds grow up the same way”. A message to a generation of kids telling them to be responsible and to have hope in the hard times they face. "Customer value is the relationship between benefits and the sacrifice necessary to obtain those benefits. Customer value is not simply a matter of high quality.”(Lamb, Mktg, p7). So Wu tang has a major fan base, so the relationship has been build.

As the art of Hip Hop continues on, the Wu Tangs music is still going strong with new listeners and generations becoming die-hard fans every day.“A target market characterized by widely scattered potential customers, highly informed buyers, and brand loyal repeat purchasers generally requires a promotional mix with more advertising and sales promotion and less personal selling”(MKTG,Lamb,p.222) Now with the information provided on the history of The Wu Tang Clan, you now get the idea and atmosphere you would feel you’re in when you drink this premium vodka. A classy responsible feeling that makes life a bit nicer. At a price of $39.99, you get a value that will please anybody. These days the times are tough, so why not enjoy your self on a special occasion with Wu Tang Vodka.

When buying products, consumers expect certain outcomes from there purchase. How well these exceptions are met determines whether the consumer is satisfied or dissatisfied with the purchase. For the marketer, an important element of any post purchase evaluation is reducing any lingering doubts that the decision is sound.(MKTG,Lamb,p.66).A Name you can trust to be a high quality item, you can ensure your going to be satisfied with the feeling and experience your going to get with this premium vodka. A taste so smooth and soothing, with that boss life lifestyle that the Wu Tang portrays, your going to feel like a million dollars.
Just like their song the “Triumph”, Wu Tang Vodka is here to take over the Vodka business as they did in the Hip Hop industry.”Encoding is the conversation of the senders ideas and thought into a message, usually in the form of words and signs”(Lamb,MKTG,Lamb, p.215)
" Persuading promotion is designed to stimulate a purchase or an action.Persuon normally becomes the main promotion goal when the product enters the growth stage of its cycle.”(MKTG,Lambp.218).With these strategies going to be used in the marketing of this product, it’s sure to do well across the world and potentially be a big seller to all consumers of Vodka.

week 10 EOC

Guitar Center is a store that I’ve been going to for years and every time I purchase something I’m satisfied because the specialist who sold me the product knows in great detail how the product works and knowing that, I feel comfortable pursuing on buying it because I know it’s exactly what I’m looking for because the information provided. I can proudly say that I’ve spent upwards to about five thousand dollars at Guitar Center. Every now and then they’ll send me ads in the mail of big sales coming up with coupons with up to twenty five percent off. That’s good in all but I feel I’ve gave them a lot of business in the past years and I think it would be a good idea if they had special deals for customers who spend huge amounts of money like me. Or maybe like a first look at new products that general customers haven’t seen or a closed door sale. What makes me keep going back to Guitar Center is not just the top of the line gear, but the relationship you get with the specialist. Every specialist has the same passion for music as much as I do, so I can relate to them and feel that I can trust there reference on what’s really a really good product and what just looks cool. But if Guitar Center really wanted to make me a life time customer, should have a special v.i.p. type card where when you spent a certain amount of money, you get discounts every time you purchase something.

Week 9 A Time Where I paid More...

If I had to think of a time where I purchased something more expensive than I had to was when I purchased a Dj mixer. For a while I saved up money so I could be able to afford to buy this product, and when I had enough .Well I go shopping around town to compare prices and their pretty much the same price everywhere. So I look online and I check on New Egg and to find out they have that same dj mixer for forty dollars cheaper. Now I have enough to buy it at the store and I think about it some more and I decided I rather buy it right there and now then rather purchase it online. Maybe in the long run I might of saved thirty-forty dollars, but I waited so long to own this mixer so I wanted it as soon as possible. Even though it could’ve been sent and received by me in four-five days I rather of paid the extra money then have it shipped with the possibility of it being damaged or not the right one. I hate to by things off the internet, whether big or small. I had a bad experience buying something online. The product was damaged, so I had to send it back. That whole process took almost about a month to get fixed. So I don’t mind spending a little extra to be satisfied.

Process on Vodka Brand

Progress on Vodka brand
For my Vodka brand, I was inspired by the Hip Hop group Wu Tang Clan to endorse the product. This group is considered to be one of top in the music business with a persona that’s hip and smooth. This Vodka would be a premium blend with an average cost of 40 to 50 dollars By having a well known group promote this premium Vodka with an appeal to people the ages between 21 and thirty five. Ive thought of a bottle concept and If you know about the Wu Tang, you know of their love for shaolin culture with sample audio of old karate movies in their music, so for the bottle I would have the Wu Tang logo in the middle with two Shaolin warriors with swords . The swords would be craved in to have that sharp looking effect to it. I want this Vodka to be call the W. This bottle will also come with a dvd with the story of how they came to be one of the most influential artists in Hip Hop. There would be nine different bottles you could by. Each featuring an different member’s picture on the back of the bottle. Wu Tang fanatics will be stoked to know that the ingredients are inspired by a ancient Japanese recipe. This premium Vodka will satisfy any Vodka lover, even if you don’t listen to Hip Hop or even if you never heard of the Wu Tang Clan.

Biggest Challenge in marketing EOC week 7

The Biggest Challenge in marketing.EOC week 7
Well for me the biggest challenge I came across was thinking of something totally original. It seems every idea I came up with, someone already thought of. Ideas I didn’t even know existed I would research and sure enough it does. The thing that I noticed was the harder you think about something the more difficult everything becomes. I think my best ideas come to me when I’m doing my day to day things. I think it’s impossible to reach everyone in the same way because everyone’s different and everyone has a different way of thinking.

Product Pitch Classic Premium Vodka

Classic Premium Vodka
I wanted to create a Vodka that had a timeless quality to it by having featured an Influential musician or band that made a positive impact on society to have featured on each bottle. For example I would like to have a bottle with a tribute to Bob Marley with his face on the bottle and on the back a brief description of his accomplishments. My bottles would pay tribute to Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, led Zeppelin and many other bands. This type of vodka will have a fancy glass bottle with a really detailed picture of the featured artist. A premium vodka that’s not to expensive mostly aimed for people who are into collecting items. One of the slogans would be “Lets Drink To You”.

What my classmates think about advertising and marketing
“Marketing is usually focused on building relationships with their consumers and establishing a brand that they can trust. An example would be the episode of MAD MEN that we watched in class where his job as an advertising executive was to come up for an advertising strategy to sell cigarettes, even after research was showing that cigarettes were bad for the health and can lead to lung cancer. Even after knowing that they were putting their customers lives at risk, they decided that their company wasn’t the only one, so as long as their company was the one that the customers were going to, it would be okay.”(
http://lbpro1999.blogspot.com/)
I agree on what he’s saying. I also think that the marketers just don’t want you continue smoking, but to continue smoking there brand. So, these days everyone knows that cigarettes are harmful and especially the marketers, so they start advertising safer cigarettes to show there the safest out
“Marketing is different than advertizing, in many different structure ways. Advertizing is more to sell a brand or product. It’s not really geared towards a lot of customer relations, the goal is to sell, sell, SELL.” (http://redreaperrecords.blogspot.com/)
That’s what my assumption of advertising.Marketing on the other hand, they want to focus on developing a relationship rather than a consumer. They want you to feel that they can trust the product and be satisfied everytime you purchase from them.

“The true difference between advertising and marketing is that marketers focus more on the needs of the consumer. Advertising seeks to create awareness and persuade potential customers” (http://gamboldeproductions.blogspot.com/)
I agree on what she said. Usually when you buy something expensive, you also receive a survey that asks how’d you found out about this product or if you have any comments or advice to give. When a product is just advertise without a targeted demographic, they basically want you to be aware that product .

Whats the difference between Advertising and Marketing?

What’s the difference between Advertising and Marketing?
When you think of advertising and marketing, you assume they are the same but they’re not. To market a product, you first have to find you’re demographic. You are going to find out the best possible approach to a potential customer. Marketing has to do a lot with do with finding the right crowd that can relate and afford the product. Some brands market preferably market to an age group. For example, McDonalds has the Big Mac. In their commercials, you don’t see a women eating there burgers because they know women tend more to watch the calories they consume. I think that’s why they started selling more healthy alternatives like selling salads and chicken sandwiches. To advertise is to basically promote a certain product to the masses with no real demographic. I don’t think they target a certain type of people, it’s just a campaign to let people know this product exists. “Marketing can occur even if an exchange doesn’t occur” (Mktg, page 4,lamb). What I got out of this was you have a product that’s being marketed and even if that person doesn’t decide to buy it, that person is a demographic of what type of people would probably be interested. If a grocery store noticed that a certain item was a top seller, they would probably set that item on an end cap. So I see the difference from advertising and marketing. I think finding the right demographic would be hardest because not everyone thinks the same way and everyone has their own preference. I believe if the product is good quality, you don’t need all this research for marketing. The good products will survive and the crappy ones will fail.

Me as a Consumer and What I buy week 2 eoc

Me as a Consumer and What I buy week 2 eoc

Well to describe my demographic, I am a single Mexican American who is twenty-two years old. I’m not a high maintenance kind of person meaning I don’t like to spend a lot of money on anything that’s not reasonable. For example, I wouldn’t spend over sixty dollars on a pair of shoes. To me, spending over a hundred dollars on shoes would be a waste of money. They say you get what you pay for but I think just because the item is a name brand doesn’t mean it has better quality then a generic brand in some cases like food. When it comes to electronics, I like to do my research before I make a big purchase. I am a Audio student so I want to work with the best equipment available. I am not where I want to be financial at the moment so I’ll just have to settle with the inexpensive equipment. When it comes to buying someone a gift, I generally would like to get a known name brand item, whether it’s a digital camera or an Mp3 player, because I want the person I give it to, to know the brand and to know there gift is a good quality item and not some cheap gift I knew probably wouldn’t deliver. Just because of that brand name, everything looked differently from being low quality to high quality. To tell you the truth, I wouldn’t want a gift that was an electronic with a brand I never heard of. Mainly because I don’t know the reviews customers have and if I never heard of it, it must be cheap. When I was younger I never paid attention to what was quality and never did my research before purchasing and then when I have it , I realized its not that good of a product.

How I Buy Stuff

When Im ready to purchase an item, I usually know a lot about that product before i buy it. The more expensive the more I want to look around and try to find a better deal. Im planning to save up some money this year and buy a Mac. I've Been using Windows my whole life until recently when I came here to the Art Institute. I feel that if I get a Mac, I wont have to worry about my computer not capable of handling the work load my big audio projects. When your grade is on the line, you just want the best possable solution to getting things done on time. So I would say Im willing to pay more money to get the satisfaction I want in a product. When it comes to buying everyday things like a certain cereal or a beverage I usually go with the food I grew up on cause I guess it reminds me of past memories growing up. When it comes to buying toothpaste, shampoo, bar soap and products like that I stick to what my parents bought us when we were little, because if your parents bought it, it must be the best one. I guess when it comes down to it, Im just trying to get the most out my money, whatever Im buying, whether its searching for the best deal or going with the customer review I want to feel that I made the best possible choice. "An individual's buying decisions are further influenced by psychologial factors:perception, motivation, learning, and beliefs and attitudes."(Mtkg, Lamb,P.76)

A Quality Customer Experience

A quality customer experience of mine, I would have to think really hard cause most of the time my satisfaction with quality service is not that good. Whether its buying fast food to buying a computer i always felt kind of rushed or not they were not telling me all the information i need to know. If i had to tell you about a good experience , i would mention a time where i purchased a television at a store and it was a open box item. So i take it home and a couple weeks later, the bulb goes out and it stops turning on. i take it back and sales rep start asking me questions in a interrogation kind of way. So i ask to speak to a manager and without a explanation he lets me exchange it for another television. So he made me feel like i a important customer even though the television wasn't that expensive, so now i plan on shopping there again in the future.
